Birthday practice

We are getting ready for a very exciting day...in a few weeks Simon will have his first birthday! We have been doing some planning and getting decorations prepared. Today I aired up one of the balloons to see what he would do with it. He had a lot of fun chasing it around and trying to pop it. Sorry for the loud screaming baby...he has been going through a squealing phase lately.

Simon's Room

Simon has a fun room and he likes to hang out in it during the day. I often find him looking through his wardrobe. Today he squeezed into a small space between his dresser and rocking chair where he saw a book (one of his favorite things lately). The other day Shane found him in there with his blanket and pacifier laying on the floor (it was almost naptime) guess he was ready!

Simon and Reece

Our friends Julie and Luke brought thier boys Nash and Reece over to the house the other day so that the boys could play and the adults could enjoy the summer afternoon. Reece is about 2 months older than Simon, and it is always fun to watch him interact with other babies his age.

the patio

We recently finished a project behind our house, installing concrete patio pavers. Simon thought the level was pretty cool.

Pop Pop turns 60

We got a special treat last week. For my dad's (pop pop) 60th birthday my entire family drove out to Colorado to visit us. It is getting more and more difficult to get a photo w/ all the cousins looking at the camera.
There was a lot of fun time in the mornings as the kids hung out and played in their PJ's. Emerald and Calvin are such good cousins and siblings. They were always looking for ways to entertain the babies.
Simon and Josiah were fun to watch as they are the closest in age and are beginning to interact with each other. By interact I mean Simon takes a toy or Pacifier away from Josiah and then Josiah takes it back.
On Wednesday we all headed to the Mountain Village where Nana and Pop Pop were staying to watch a concert in the town plaza. Fortunately the hotel room overlooked the plaza so we never even had to leave the room.

Simon thought he might get to go swimming w/ the big kids...too bad he missed his nap and needed to catch one while they swam.
I asked Emerald to go over by the flowers so I could take her picture. 5 seconds later this was the pose I got.

We had a lot of fun with all of them and can't wait to see them all again.
