the month of the "paci"

Simon has had a big month in February. First he started a new daycare in our neighborhood and got a fun graduation poster from Toddler Town where he has been going since he was 2 months old. We were sad to leave friends, but excited to be in a program right down the block from our house! He has adjusted well despite dealing with other growing pains this month. Simon has been getting teeth, like crazy. It seems that before this month the last tooth that broke through was 8 months ago. This month he has started getting teeth all over his mouth uppers and lowers, and strangely not right next to the teeth he already has, mostly he is getting molars, way back in his mouth. It has been hard to watch him and now that he is getting better at communicating he tells us owie about 20 times a day which nearly breaks your heart. The Pacifier has been helpful in getting through this painful time as he seems to like to chew on it, pull it through his teeth or anything else that might help relieve the pain. On another front, his vocabulary is rapidly growing, we think in part because of the new daycare, and his age, but I would estimate his word count is between 40-50 now, he has started saying his ABC's and has even started putting 2 word phrases together. It is a lot of fun to be able to talk with him and witness him growing.

It's February!

So it is almost embarrassing that it has been about 3 months since my last blog! Apologies to all. Our holidays were great, despite getting stuck at the Denver Airport with a 1 year old:) I looked at Simon tonight and thought how much he is developing and that we are near the point of having conversations! He has also started to gain control of the spoon when feeding himself. Tonight I watched him scoop a lentil out of his soup, focus to keep it on his spoon and guide it all the way to his mouth with his eyes and hand. Amazing.

Here are a few pics from the last few months.
